GENERAL SERVICES
At Holmead Road Medical, we prioritise our patient’s health and wellness above all else. To be able to do this in the most successful and respectful way, we kindly ask all patients to consider what they expect out of a consult and prepare accordingly when booking it.
To help us provide the best care and minimise wait times, please book the appointment that best suits your needs. Standard 15-minute appointments are suitable for simple concerns, test results, referrals, or one to two health issues.
For multiple concerns, care plans, mental health plans, procedures, or complex issues, please advise our reception team when booking, as extra time may be required. Occasionally, medical emergencies can cause delays. Our receptionists can keep you updated, help arrange another doctor, or reschedule your appointment if needed.
If you require further assistance, please call our friendly reception team on 07 3188 7230, or email reception@holmeadroadmedical.com.au.

IRON INFUSIONS
When an Iron Infusion May Be Recommended
Iron infusions are used when iron deficiency or iron deficiency anaemia cannot be managed effectively with dietary changes or oral supplements.
Your GP may recommend an infusion if you:
- Have persistent low iron despite taking tablets
- Cannot tolerate oral iron due to side effects such as nausea or constipation
- Need to correct iron levels quickly (for example, before surgery or pregnancy)
- Have an underlying condition affecting iron absorption
Before scheduling your infusion, our doctors will review your iron studies and full blood count to confirm it’s the most suitable treatment.
VASECTOMY
Vasectomy is a type of birth control that prevents the penis from releasing sperm in fluid called semen during sex. During this minor surgery, a surgeon cuts and seals the tubes that carry sperm.
Vasectomy is a low-risk surgery. Most often, the surgery is done with medicine called a local anesthetic. That means you stay awake and have medicine to numb the surgery area. You’ll go home the same day as the surgery.
Book an appointment with Dr Rhys Cameron if you wish to discuss getting a vasectomy.
